Clearwater, Florida – Phillies Spring Training

Posted by sandyalves on March 12, 2016

Meeting Up with Jenn and Earle

Once again, we were up early, eager to get on the road because we needed to get set up in our new place and head over to meet Jenn and Earle at our first baseball game before 1:00. It was kind of a tight fit into our spot at Rainbow Largo Village, but we went around another way and I was able to get us into our space.

We headed to the ball park to see Jenn and Earle and watch the Phillies vs. the Blue Jays. Earle had gotten us seats right behind home plate, so the view was excellent and the ballpark in Clearwater is really nice.

The Phillies won 5-2.

The next day was a leisure day. We slept in and headed over to Jenn and Earle’s hotel about 11:00. I made BM’s. Jenn was having a bit of a rough morning. Because it looked like a crappy beach day, we went to a barbecue joint in Dunedin (Dunedin Smoke House) and then went to the Dunedin Bowl and bowled a few frames. I won the first game with a score of 120 and Earle won the second game with a score of around 108. It was fun and of course drinks were involved.

Earle and Jenn took off for a couple of days so I could work and they could see more baseball. We hooked up again at Clearwater Beach where we spent the day. I rented beach chairs and an umbrella, we had drinks from a quad driving bar tender.

Earle had said something about cooking at our place, so Earle made us steak and mushrooms, and grilled zucchini for dinner.

It was a nice day.

St. Patrick’s Day

The next morning we went met Jenn and Earle for brunch. We went over to Lenny’s which is a well-known pre-game breakfast place. Earle and Caleb were headed to the Phillies game and Jenn and I were headed to Hand and Stone for massages and facials. The Phillies were playing the Rays and they kicked the Phillies butts 5-1. It was St. Patrick’s Day so Caleb bought himself a green Phillies t-shirt. After the game and our massages we all met up at the trailer for killer corned beef and cabbage. Earle and Jenn told us the story of their meeting. What a fun day!

Our last day together

Jenn and Earle had checked out of their hotel. Caleb made us corned beef hash and eggs for breakfast and then off to the ballpark. We had lawn seats today. The Phillies started out by going down 5-0 in the first inning or so, but then came back and took the score 9-5. An inning later, it was 15-5 Phillies, but the Bucs made a run in the 8th and took it to 15-9 in the 8th. Phillies win 15-12! What a game! What a good time we had with our friends! Thank you! And then we were once again – alone with each other.

Our last morning we woke up to ants in the trailer! What a way to end a wonderful week.
